Fish for a new 29 gallon?

When my new 29 gallon tank finishes cycling, I would like to know exactly what fish to put in. I have 2 black ghost knife fish ( PLEASE don't hammer me about how they need a way bigger tank, I'm working on getting a 125 gallon in the near future ), 2 pink kissing gouramis, and 1 common pleco (giving it away - see the classifieds section of the forum). I was thinking maybe a couple of angelfish, or an albino bristlenose pleco? (They stay a lot smaller than common plecos). Or a peacock eel. They stay pretty small too. Help please!

I really do not wanna hammer you Freddy, but with the 4 fish you got there as it is, once they get growing, spc the kissings who grow fairly quick (I donno about the "grow rate" of knife fish) these 4 are literally gonna BUST your tank there, not a joke and not meant to harm any feelings, just the truth.
I'd say leave this as it is until you have your 125g going, then take these 4 fish over there and stock the 29g.
Angel's please in nothing smaller then a 55g min for 2 (They also get to ~10-12") under good care grow quick.

Trust me I know just how addictive fish are (just look at my aquariums) and its not fun to be told no on something, but I urge you until you have the big tank set up for the current gang don't do it. If there's even more larger fish in this small tank as it is, non of them have a good chance for a proper development and apart from that this is doomed for aggression outbreaks.

Ok. I'll probably have to get a 55 gallon first, then work my way up from there, because my mom just tunes me out when she hears "hundred". But I am upgrading as fast as possible. So I guess I'll leave it. I'm about to get a moonlight set up, just read that other thread and it looks like my BGKs would love it, since they're nocturnal. Thanks for the advice!

Did you just recently get these fish? Any semi-good pet store will work with you if you speak with them, these fish are totally not suitable for your tank size and they should have never sold you those. Talk to them, see if you can return them/ exchange them for SMALL fish. I think you'd be MUCH better up that way.
And one day when you have whatever size tank, you can always buy fish that fit in these tanks then

I wish I could, but the pet store I got them from is the dirty one (I talked about it in my post about the free pleco in the classified section - it's filthy, algae everywhere and dead fish in the tanks). I don't think they would take it back or buy it back, but I know Petsmart sells BGKs and kissing gouramis, so if they take the pleco, maybe they would be willing to take my other fish too. I hope you see how irresponsible that LFS is (it's Ed's Pet World, by the way, in Homewood, AL). They not only sold me 2 BGKs without warning me about their aggressiveness and asking me about my tank size, but they also said they would sell me angelfish and discus, without asking how big my tank was! These were my first fish, so I had no idea what their requirements were. I don't think they would have advised me well anyway if I had asked for help stocking my first 10 gallon tank. I hope I can start fresh!

FROM EXPERIENCE I always think the LFS people are experts because on many things they know what they're talking about, but I've learned to go and check it out and see what they say, come back and research on the forum, then go back and buy it if I get the thumbs up from the forum crew. They'll sell me just about anything.

Bad news. Petsmart can't take the fish off my hands. But they said they knew a breeder who would. His name is Mark Brown. I don't know how close to me he lives, or if I'll have to ship the fish. I was really hoping they would take the fish, since they're the only LFS I have, besides the dirty one, that sells black ghost knife fish. Besides that, I only have one other LFS that actually has fish, and then there's wal-mart and one last one that doesn't sell live fish anymore. I guess I could try Aquabid and see how that works out, but the temperature's been dropping where I live, and we actually got snow today! (It usually doesn't stick, and I don't know if it will be any different this time, but it was enough for us to get out of school early!) Would hand warmers work for heat packs? Or do I have to get some that are specifically "heat packs for shipping live fish"? If you would like any of these fish: 2 black ghost knife fish (one is 4", the other is 6"),
2 pink kissing gouramis (both are about 3"),
1 common pleco (about 5"),
PM me, but I would like to sell them and not just give them away, so I'll have money to get new fish that will stay small enough for my tank. But the common pleco is still free, just pay shipping costs.

Just contact the breeder, if he's anywhat like the guys I dealt with, he'll swop you for some good fish and meet you somewhere half way if needed.

Don't give up hope, there's always a solution! Had you tried a add locally on craigslist?
