finally purchased my 5 gallon tank, how should i stock it?

Soooooo i finally purchased a tank. 5 gallons Get this Hawkeye 5 gal Tank Aquarium Kit at Walmart.com. Save money. Live better.
now i am wondering how should i stock it? part of me just wants to buy a betta and call it a day but ht other and maybe larger part of me wants to do something else. If i didnt get a betta what would my stocking options be?

it comes with some sort of power filter and will be very heavily planted

Either / or. I wouldn't recommend both. Too small of a tank.

If you want the extra color go for a betta and some red cherry shrimp. From what i have heard they like moss in the tank though. (the shrimp that is)
