Filtration - Overkill or no?

I am in the process of setting up a 67 gallon freshwater aquarium w/ overflow and simple sump setup. I have purchased a Marineland 360 canister for filter duty. I was wondering, would it be worth it to add an Emperor 400 HOB filter to add to the filtration or would that be overkill (or even detract from the ability of the canister to filter)? The extra expense really isn't an issue. Any thoughts / opinions would be helpful. Thanks!

Everything I'm learning from this forum seems to indicate that you almost can't have too much filtration. Basically, by having both a cannister and an HOB backup, you have more surface for biological filtration and less change of causing a mini-cycle when you clean one of the filters.

Right now I'm running an Aquaclear 30 HOB filter, plus a Marineland 350, plus a coil denitrator on my 20 gal tank. I drink the water from my tank.

Cool, that's kind of what I was thinking...the more filtration the better. I am also planning on using a UV filter in my sump, so hopefully my water parameters will stay good as long as I keep up with water changes. Thanks!

There is only really one thing that is important to remember about filtration, there are fish that will actually be stressed out by too much current and will lead to their demise. If you don't have fish that require a slow current it is likely you can not really overfilter although there is still a point where it becomes overkill.
