My filter has algae, and every once and a while ill scrub it out of all the tubes and box, but it comes back. should i leave it, or keep scrubbing? will it effect anything?
Algae will grow where ever it can. It will not harm anything if you keep an eye on it. Don't allow it to reach a point where it can clog the filter intake tube or grow in the impeller chamber. As long as the flow rate of the filter is still functional then there is no problem that I see with having a bit of algae on/in the filter. I have a little algae on and in the filter tube in my tank and it has made no difference yet.
