filter ? for 80 gallon tank

I have an 80 gallon aquarium it has been set up for years. Last summer bought a fluval 450, when 1 of my hanging filters died I still have a tetratec PF500 hooked up and on the fish tank along with the fluval I am having trouble buying filters for the tectra tec petsmart and petco quit selling them. So my question is will the fluval 450 be enough for my tank? Or do I need another filter?
Thanks

i believe the 405 is rated to hande a 100g tank by itself. so it will be fine alone on an 80

Thank you, I know that it is suppose to work for a 100 gallon, but the reason I ask is because when I bought the tank I also bought a Penguin filter that was suppose to work up to 100 gallons and it didnt so I had to buy the tetratec pf500 which also is suppose to work for 100 gallon tank. Now I know the fluval is a much better filter but just wanted to make sure that it would work alone.

there is no penguin filter rated for a 100g tank. the biggest one is an emperor400 which is still only rated for an 80g max. if you had a penguin100, its actually rated for a 20g tank

so. the canister will work by itself, however, there is no such thing as too much filtration. i would personally suggest adding an aquaclear HOB. id go with a ac110.

You are right It was the emperor 400 that died. I had a penguin on my 20 gallon, my mistake. Thank you
