Fiddler Crabs Setup

I have a fishkeeping friend who's interested in having a tank of fiddler crabs. To help him keep down costs, I have a spare 5 gallon minibow that I could give to him for the setup. Would a tank of that size be suitable for 2-3 crabs? He doesn't intend on keeping any fish with the crabs, so the water area would not be very large. How would the setup be heated and filtered?

Everything happens for a reason, but the reason isn't always good.

That's a little on the small side for keeping fiddlers. His best bet is a longer tank, like a 20 Long (30" in length) to give the crabs plenty of space.

In the past, I've filtered them with submersible filters (like the Fluval brand), and using a regular submersible heater under the water.

How many could be kept in a 20 long? Also, would the land area need to be heated?

To my understanding, crabs are extremely messy. They need a lot of space and strong filtration as well as regular maintenance. Also, i believe most species are brackish and need a level of salt in their tank (Not 100% sure)
