Female/Male Cherry Barbs co-existing peacefully with Male Guppies?

I'm thinking about getting some Guppies for my original tank that currently has 8 Cherry Barbs in (4 Male, 4 Female).

There are several problem I'm faced with however.

1) I've heard Barbs can be nippy, even Cherry Barbs.
2) I've heard that Male Guppies can be quite persistent at trying to mate with females, even of other species (like my Cherry Barbs). - So I didnt know if the Female Cherry Barbs would be under stress.
3) I heard it was possible to successfully keep just Male Guppies with other fish, female Guppies aren't mandatory with Male Guppies.

(This is all hearsay more so than experience, so if anyone could enlighten me, that would be great).

I have heard many of the same things, but my experiences with said fish are very different. Cherry barbs CAN be nippy if improperly kept. People with limited barb experience (or no experience) think that they are all nippy. Truth be told, most barbs are no different that tetras in tht regard.

I would not be concerned about the male guppies trying to mate with cherry barbs. And yes you can have all males, but too few or too many can be problematic.

Without knowing how big the tank is, it's hard to say what should work.

125 - BGK, chanchito cichlid, pictus cats, silver dollars, palmas bichir
125 - cichlids (severums, bolivian rams, chocolate), rainbows ( turquoise, red), loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, tiretrack eel, pearl gouramis, betta
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, upside down cats, spotted ctenopoma, kribensis, delhezzi bichir
2.5 - betta
