ok, so i have a plecostomus [gerardo] and 2 female betas[harley and chaquita]...
and whenever i try to put the algae food in for gerardo, the girls try to eat it, and harley actualy has and got sick from it, but she recovered quickly

but how do i go about feeding gerardo without the other 2 knowing?
is this possible?
i dont want to take any of them out of the tank just to feed them...

Depending on how large your tank is, feed on the other side for the bettas and drop some sinking pellets for the pleco.

The algae wafers shouldn't hurt bettas but there is a way to feed the pleco and hopefully keep it out of sight and out of mind for the bettas.

If your pleco has a cave, that is the easiest way. Simply place the wafers in the cave and the pleco will find them where the bettas won't know it is even there. If he doesn't have a cave, give him a small one to hide in.

Also, varying the diet of the pleco by giving it zucchini or cucumber raw, asparagus and squash lightly blanched to soften it but not turn it into mush, or some cuts of sweet potota raw will also help to keep the pleco happy and the bettas taking nips off it shouldn't hurt them.

Maybe try some lightly blanched peas for the bettas to get them the vegetable matter they want from the algae wafer and maybe they will leave it alone. Simply peel the peas and squash them so they are bite sized for the bettas. Rinse them off to get off the extra mush and your bettas may get all they need to be happy and leave the wafers alone.
