Endler Guppies tail color changed?

I purchased what I think is an Endlers guppy at Walmart. It was the only one in a tank with a few fancy guppies. I wouldn't normally buy fish at walmart but I had never seen an Endlers in the local pet stores in my area and the tank/fish looked clean and healthy so I bought him. He is neon yellow with orange markings on his belly. The neon yellow formed 2 swords on his transparent tail but the tail had turned totally transparent by the time I got him home and settled in my tank? Is that normal?? Today the bottom yellow sword seems to be returning, he's been here almost 2 days. Also he has an antenna running back from under his belly toward his tail? Any information about this pretty little fish??

OK, sounds like you have a Tiger Endlers / Bunnble Bee Endlers. These are not true Endlers they are Endler Guppy cross bred. As for the color fading that is somewhat normal. Due to the genetics, these fish are suseptiible to stress related color fading. Give it a few more days and it should be fine.

You did not say what else is in your tank, but be warned that your little half breed can breed with guppys and mess up the color line. Some people care, others don't. As for me I care. Also be aware most of the hybred Endler / Guppys lose the Endlers trait of not eating their young.

Endlers are cool little fih to work with. I have three different color lines and they throw amazing colors. Nothing can beat a smaller tank stocked full of male Endlers. If you ever want to work with Endlers just drop me a line and I'll get you set up. You can p.m. me if interested.

I have him in a tank with fancy male guppies. Glad you were able to shed some light on him! Its really hard to find information on Endlers! I knew thats what he was but at Walmart they really aren't that knowledgeable about fish. I will definately keep you in mind for more Endlers in the future!!!!
