The Electric blue dempsey does not grow quite as large as the more common Blue green dempsey's but still needs a 55 gallon tank or larger to prevent stunting the fish.
I kept one from around two inches, till it reached about seven inches, in 75 gallon tank with some loaches.
I gave him to a couple who now keeps him/her in 125 gallon with one pleco.
Do try to provide larger tank and try to find one (Dempsey), that's no smaller than two or three inches if you decide to purchase one.
These fish are quite fragile when babies by most account's.(I agree)
They are a handsome color morph of the regular blue green dempsey and according to those who have studied the DNA,, are not Hybrids.
