Eheim Ecco 2232 Maintenance

I have had my canister filter running since the beginning of August and would like to know how you guys (the community) clean/maintain your own Eheim filters. I am currently running mine with the stock media it comes with: Fine and Course filter pad, and Substrate Pro. Do I rinse Course filter pad and Substrate Peo while replacing the fine filter pad? Also, what do you recommend putting on the O-Ring to prevent it from drying out and leaking?

Thanks,

About once a month I will rinse my coarse pads in siphon tank water. As for the white pads well I found then to be expensive so I use filter floss instead and change it once a month. The substrate pro I only rinse if I see a lot of debris. The rings well I haven't put anything on mine yet. Hmmm maybe I should do that also?

How come you clean it once a month? I thought the Eheim canister filters were good for 4-6 months before required cleaning. I haven't noticed any change in my flow since setup from day 1 with all parameters reading perfect.

It all depends on the tank. I generally get debris soo I just want to make sure it stays clear. If yours is running fine the way it is I wouldn't worry about it and clean it when it says. I know people generally don't clean theirs as often as I do. I have heard most people generally do it evey 3 or so months.

You use petroleum jelly (vasoline) on o-rings

Father Knows Best but Abbey knows everything! I once knew everything, then I asked one question.
