Question Dwarf Puffers

OK so these little critters are simply absolutely cute! I don't actually have room for any of them in my community tank right now - and I read that they aren't very good in such a tank anyway - but if I was thinking of getting a smaller species-only tank to house a few puffers, what would be the minimum tank size I should get? And what would be the ideal number of puffers of get?

I think that's strongly linked to exactly what puffer you wanna house in there, cause they vary in their needs (based of varying body sizes) I've read anywhere's from 15 to 35g for Puffer houses dep on which one's.

As far as I know (and I'm sure Byron will come to this asap too) they need brackish regardless which one exactly you're gonna house. Also they all need HEAVILY planted tank - Like next to no free room planted tank, like jungle style. Its also ideal to use sand substrate for them and floating plants (to recreate their natural habitat).

And know your water parameters, they don't like too hard water.

If you are considering the dwarf puffer also known as pea puffer and Indian puffer, they are true freshwater fish. (no salt) A 5 gal tank would be ok for one. They say 5 gallons per puffer, so 2 would be fine in a 10 gal, if you provide lots of plants and decor.
Two males together is not recommend, they are likely to fight. All females or only one male, would be best.
