So does anybody know if mbuna cichlids would like some kind of driftwood or just stick with my rocks?

woods tend to soften the water and add tannis mbuna cichlids wont tolerate this stick to the rocks as this is there natral habit if you really want driftwood with these fish go for the inert sythetic kind which will have no impact on water chemistry

Ive had african cichlids for close to 20 years and the 2 tanks i have them in now, both have some driftwood in..........The other person is correct, they will release tannins into your water, but with no bad affects to the fish and it will lower your Ph...........The lowering of Ph will not cause drastic effects on your africans.........There are parts of this country where the water is very low in Ph and the people in those areas are still raising africans with no ill affects....Ultimately a high Ph is ideal fro the africans, but they will survive in a lower PH tank with driftwood in it
