Do I need to cycle an used tank?

I didn't see anything on this topic.
I just got an used 80gallon, which i believe used to be a saltwater tank. Do I need to do any cycling or cleaning before setting it up as a freshwater tank?

Give it a really good rinse and scrub if a lot of salt has stuck to it. You can use bleach if you like but it'll probably be unnecessary. If you do then make sure it's a really mild solution and rinse it very well afterwards. Then cycle as you would a normal tank because the bacteria lives in the filter and gravel etc, and dies when the tank dries out so you're starting from scratch as far as cycling is concerned I'm afraid. There's a sticky at the beginning of this section on cycling which you should read if you're not sure what it involves.
