As for the glass catfish, while I've never owned any I did research them at one point. If I recall correctly they can grow to about 4 or 5 inches correct? I agree with Lupin, you'll probably need at least a 30 gallon, and even 4 is probably too large for a ten gallon especially if you're adding other fish in there.

Also, from my brief experience, I've learned to never take what anyone at the LFS says as fact. I would suggest always researching on your own and asking advice on here like you're doing. Always get a second opinion.
sorry i couldnt reply earlier i was making pancakes xD for dindin xD lol anyways uhh the gravel i got i remeber correctly was from PETSMART and the brand was TOPFIN it also said aquarium safe and no they grow from 3inches to 4inches xD but idk what to do i bought em like 3days ago so idk if i can just go back there and you know return them...

You should be able to return them, especially if you make a fuss about the stupid employees misinforming you.

Glass catfish (Kryptopterus bicirrhis) DO get up to 6 inches long and they're very shy, easily stressed fish. They need to be kept in large groups (at least 6-8) in order to be happy. Otherwise they will be stressed and easily susceptible to disease.

Crayfish are not fish safe. They are ambush predators who will attack and kill your fish in the night. If you want some interesting inverts, go for shrimp. Crayfish just don't work.

Qpc's right- fish store employees often don't know what they're talking about, especially at places like Petco where they pay their employees minimum wage (or close to it). It's always good to carefully research your fish before purchasing them and to check as many sources as possible.

Sounds like you need to sit down and explain to your dad that this is not a good environment for your fish and that they need to be returned. Being a responsible pet owner is not a reason your dad should use to say you can't have any more pets. Plus, it's just cruel to keep them in that tank...

I assumed you were speaking about Petco because you mentioned TopFin gravel, which is Petco's brand.

Petco is the store having the sale, but Petsmart does price matching, so you may be able to get them to give you a deal too. Here's the link, it's only thru the end of this month:

If your dad will hit you if you are trying to help out fish, that is wrong. And before you buy anymore fish, do your research first. This way, everybody is and no fish are hurt.
