decreasing surface disturbance

I have an HOB filter on both of my tanks and wonder if there's a way to limit the amount of current on the surface of the tank. any ideas? (i'm asking because i don't like how my floating plants and taller plants are clustering in corners)

is it possible to get the filter closer to the water so that it doesnt cause so much movement just a thought as ive never used a HoB filter only internal ones

you could work on constantly keeping the water level about the out-put stream of the filter..other than that, I'm not too sure.

I do know that if your tank is planted....from what I've read, HOB filters aren't the greatest for planted tank because you lose oxygen, which your plants need to live....when there is constant agitation on the surface, there's a constant loss of oxygen.....again I'm not positive, but from what I've read/learned...thats always an issue with HOB and plants.

which is why I have canister filter on the way!! because they can be submerged and the waterflow can be directed away from plants....i'm sure others will be along Stephanie!
