Decorating new tank
So I broke down and bought my second tank yesterday. This one is a 30 gal. tall hex shaped tank. It's a very cool shape, got it $50 off at PetSmart because it was the floor model. The big deal here is that it allows me to separate my big male black molly from my synodontis eupterus (hopefully) before the molly gets himself killed. I promised I'd always do fishless cycles from here on out, but the molly needs out asap.
Aside from that, I'm stocking cories and neon tetras. I've got the tank set up with Quikrete Play Sand as the substrate because I wanted something cory-friendy. I'll probably do 4 cories, 6 tetras. I'd like to get a betta in there as well, but I have a feeling my Molly might have just as much trouble tolerating him as the syno. So I don't think I'll risk it. I'll probably round off the tank with a pair of gouramis, either the 2 from my other tank or a new pair.
Right now I'm pondering decoration. I want something that works well with this tank shape. I'm figuring a large centerpiece surrounded by plants(mostly fake ones). But what should that centerpiece be? I could go the big plastic shipwreck route, but that's kinda cheesy. Or I was thinking maybe a large piece of wood or something that could run from one bottom corner to the opposite top corner, start some java moss growing up it. That could be cool. But where would I find a nice piece of wood for this application?
Any thoughts? I'm not especially creative when it comes to visual stuff.
