Dechlorinating durring water changes with hose from sink?

Hey Folks -

Is it safe to add dechlorinator to tank water before or during a water change? I have a python type gravel vac / water changer and it would be convenient to go straight from sink to tank. Just wondering if the chlorine/chloramine will be destroyed before it effects the fish. The tank has good circulation.

Anyone with tips on this method?

Thanks

I use python myself. The way i do it is as follows:

1. Turn off my filters
2. Use python to clean the tank
3. add prime directly into the tank. I use the amount enough for the whole tank and not only the water being changed. Overdosing Prime doesn't hurt fish / plants. You should check directions on whatever product you are using.
4. Add water directly from sink to the tank
5. Wait a 5-10 minutes and then turn the filters on

so far i haven't had any problems with the method.

I do basically the same as insensate. I dose the tank with Prime for the whole tank, and then fill the tank with my hose, but I just turn the filter back on as soon as I've finished refilling it.
