dangerous metal?

I have some screws, exposed, underneath my diy hood. The bubbles from my pump cause water to build up on the screws. If that water then drips back into my tank, is it dangerous for my fish? I'm guessing the screws are zinc coated or plated.

Welcome to the forum!

Over time yes it could be a problem, if it is only a small amount of screw sticking out then unlikely.
One way to stop them getting wet, buy a small tube of aquarium safe silicone and cover them.

10g Fry / Hospital / QT tank (as needed)

75g Saltwater Reef, Ocellaris Clownfish, Lyretail Antias (baby), Lemon damsel, Longtail Fairy Wrasse, purple dottyback, snails, crabs and a few LPS corals.

220g Still sitting empty (come on Lottery I need the numbers to come up!)

Thanks!

That's exactly what I intend to do.

I just finished the hood yesterday and attached a plexiglass cover on the bottom of it. I did cover each screw with silicone but I noticed it(the plexi) had bowed badly. I zipped 3 more screws in to seal it tightly but I didn't want to leave the tank uncovered, all night, while I was at work, so I was mainly concerned with the short term.

Plexiglass will bow like crazy over time if it is too close to the lights.

Make sure as well, it is totally sealed in to prevent any moisture buildup behind it.

Hope it works out for you.
