I finally got the new(ish) 45 gallon set up. How many shrimp from the market should I add to get the cycle going? Once I do add fish (I plan on adding mollies and platies) how many times a month should I do a particle water change, and siphon the gravel? I have 2 ten gallon tanks at the moment and I siphon about 10% three times a week.
Myself, I do 50% water changes and vacuum the substrate at the same time every week. Nothing fish like better than fresh clean water. I'd think 2 to 3 shrimps should do the trick but am not positive on that. Someone else will have to chime in with that info.
+one.;-) three shrimp sounds about right. (not Jumbo shrimp)
