Cycle for Betta Tank

Ok, I am planning to update my betta's tank from a 5.5 tank with silk plants to a 15 gallon planted tank. I have been reading about cycling tanks, and was wondering what was really necessary for my tank. I am planning to use my existing filter along with another one (because bettas don't like a lot of current and they are small) and plant a moderate amount of plants. I can put some water from my existing tank to the new one and will use stress zyme to introduce some benificial bacteria. The tank will only house my betta. My question is, do I really need to do a complete fishless cycle with the ammonia and everthing just for the amount of ammonia that my one fish will produce? If I use the methods that I stated above, will I have enough bacteria to cope with the demands of one fish? I will definitely let the tank sit and give the bacteria from the water, filter, and stress zyme time to establish before moving my fish, but I was wondering if the whole fishless cycle is overkill for my purposes. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Run the new filter with the old filter on the 5.5G for at least 2 weeks. This should get a decent amount of cycled bacteria, so the new tank already has that. When you are ready to switch over, I would get both filters on the new tank, place the betta in a small holding container, get all the gravel in the new tank ASAP (this has the most biological filtration), get all of the water in the new tank, and add some new declorinated water to complete the tank off, and re-introduce the betta. This would be the safest way to get all of your bacteria on the new tank.
