Cycle assi70lstance

I'm planning on putting two mollies or danios in my 240l tank this weekend when it will have been set up for 1 week. My filter in my 70l tank is due a clean, would it help if i cleaned my filter sponge in the water of the new tank?

I have dechlorinated the new tank water.

would adding one or two of the plants from my old tank help?

All comments greatly appreciated

Thanks

I would recommend against "cross contaminating" tanks. My GF accidentally transfered ich from one of my tanks to another using equipment from one tank in another (she didn't know the tank was infected and I wasn't home). You should rinse sponge in a bucket of the water you pull out of the tank during a water change.

As for moving plants over, this is preference. I have done this a couple of times for plants I no longer wanted in a tank because it wasn't doing well in the tank. I found it worked better in another tank. But removing plants also removes hiding spots for your existing fish, so if you decide to do this, you should replace them.
