Crossing Fingers :)

Hello,

I am hoping to have my dream aquarium purchased by the end of this week. I found a used 150 gallon tank and stand, that a person is parting with. I have contacted them and have gotten the info on the tank (condition, dimensions, etc...). All that is needed is to get my buddies to agree to take a road trip with me to go get it.

The owner said that she has many tanks, and that she isn't in a hurry. I am crossing my fingers, toes, maybe even eye's that I get this tank and that she doesn't sell it to someone else.

I guess this post doesn't have a question, just wanted to share cuz I am excited.

Good luck!! What plans does your dream have for the 150g? There are so many possibilities with a tank that size. Are you planning to go planted, non-planted? Big fish or small fish with big shoals? Aquascape theme?

For starters, I have been doing some research on saltwater tanks. The tank I am trying to purchase has dimensions that are different than a standard 150 gallon. it's more of a show tank 24"D x 29.5" H x48"W (so I believe taller and not as wide). My thinking is that it will possibly not work as a reef tank due to it's height and light diffusion. I think it might make an awesome, Fish only tank with live rock.

On the other side of the coin, I could go freshwater as well and try to create a biotope of some kind.

I have a 75 gallon freshwater that needs some work, it's been more of a rescue tank for other people's fish. I have tried to do my best with it. But it's a mixed tank and to me doesn't feel like it has a theme or biotope. The fish in my 75 are about on average 10-12 years old. So there hasn't been much change to that tank for many years.

Before I ramble anymore, I will try to keep everyone updated on my progress if I do get the tank. I of course will do more reading, listening to good advice here and research research research.
