Correct Setup

Ive been doing fish for a really long time but ive been so y oung i just let my mom tell me what to do. Well apparently ive been just dumping fish in a tank and never had one die (lucky me.) I know I'm supposed to let the fish tank run for a week or so know to get the nitrates and bacterium set up. But I have decided on a 55 gallon tank or around that size. Im going to get an angel, 2 or 3 cory cats, a pleco(already have), then 5 or 6 tetras. What sort of plants do i need. Ive read that angels need cover, but do i need to buy 2 or 3 or enoughto cover most the floor or what else? I know i need a filter that does at least 10x the gallons an hour. I already know about that. I also need to know what is the best type of heater in your opinion to use for the above fish. Is there anything else besides a proper airation system?
