Hello, ok.. im setting up 2 small community tanks
one is a 29/30 gallon and the other is a 10 gallon

im wondering what to put in there...
in the 10 i was wanting to put tetras, is there any other kinds of fish that would beok in that size of tank with tetras?

also in the 29/30 we were looking at rope fish, my so has had them before and enjoys them.. what kind of fish go well with them..
we would like fish for all levels of the tank, with the 10 gallon it doesnt really matter too much. I would love some suggestions if you guys had any for me on how to set up this tank

we dont really want any angel fish though.

we're big into tetras, just dont know much about the fish or what they can go with
Thanks Jamie&Jared

i have a 15gtall with neon tetras, guppys, red eye tertras, rummynose, 1 gourami, 2 female betteas, glolite tetras, corydora, a featherfin, a kooli loach and a couple of tertas of one sort or another that came as extras in bags of other fish. oh also a couple of swordtails, all these fish get along great on my tank. we have live plants in it so there is hiding for the more timid. theres a pic of it allready on here uinder " my 15g tall" posted by squiggles in fw pictures and videos froma couple months ago.

squiggles that tank sounds like its massively overstocked. And thats coming from the guy that usually argues with people when they say someone else's tank is overstocked without knowing things such as filtration etc. But I have to highly doubt that you are running a big filtration system on a 15 gallon tank. That tank is overloaded and you shouldn't suggest such a set up to others. You didn't even give exact numbers on most of the fish but assuming any time you used plural that there is 2 thats still atleast 18 fish in the tank...which is too many.

actually I've always found tetras to be pretty simple to keep. As far as I know most tetras can be kept with one another provided that they are of similar size. The only exception I know of with that is the various tetras with long fins...which wont do too well with other tetras due to fin nipping.

yeah, they do eat smaller fish
im not putting the tetras in the 29/30 gallon..in the 10 im putting the tetras

i know they do well with mollies, they just eat their babies which is fine by me :) dont want too many fish..was just looking for some more options with fish, or if anyone has had them an din what kind of setting :)

i wasnt saying to put all those fish in a 10 just that they get along. the plants arent to hard as long as you have lots of light. from what i know darker plants are prob easier because of the lower light requirements. There are alot of fish in that tank right now, we do alot of water changes and check the params regularly. we run an aquaclear 200 on the back
