Question CO2 Poisoning and Bettas

I've tried researching this, but with no luck. I just got my betta for my planted nano tank. I plan on making this a thriving tank all around, so the betta and plants.

I want to do CO2 (DIY) but since its a smaller tank, I don't want to inject too much and give the poor little guy CO2 poisoning. Is this possible since he is a labyrinth fish? Also, how much would the would the ph change affect him?

I would worry since he is a labyrinth fish. I ran a 2 liter DIY co2 setup on a 2.5 gal tank with a betta and he was just fine.

.... I'm probably drunk.

This is how I lurk
