I have to disagree with you on that point. Bacteria blooms can seriously deplete your oxygen levels. I've woken up to tanks with sudden blooms with dead fish and the survivors gasping at the surface. For this reason, I recommend immediate large water changes to put some oxygen back in the water right away, along with increased measures to break up the surface of the water, which will allow more O2 to dissolve. Air stones are helpful, as is lowering the water line a bit so your power filter disturbs the surface more.
Sorry I just can't share this experience. In all the dozen set ups I had plenty of BB developing, some short term some long, some even in tanks with super sensitive fish and I just didn't have this kinda problem; not even now in the 55g that's been blooming for about 6 weeks
