Cloudy Water due to sand

I have a problem with my 29g tank. It is quite cloudy inside due to my gourami trying to pick up food lying on the bomix white play sand sandbed. It kept on grabbing sand and spitting it out causing a sandstorm. I'm starting to think putting the play sand was a bad idea but people say that once the bacteria form, the sand will stop cloudying up my tank. Is this true?

The short answer, no. Bacteria isnt going to put a stop to the "sandstorms". The playsand they sell here is very fine and takes very little water movement to move it around. I washed mine very well and still had problems. I finally nixed it and went with pool filter sand. It's much coarser and cleaner.
