I have a 29 gallon tank with sand and gravel. My question is, Can i use a gravel cleaner to clean the bottom of the tank even tho there is sand at the bottom?
Sort of...most people use a fork or something to stir up the sand while hovering the vac tube above the sand bed, that way it should only pick up the stuff that gets stirred into the water. You can't actually dig it into the sand bed like you would gravel though.
BTW, your sand should be stirred up a bit once a week to prevent gas pockets from forming. They can be deadly to your fish.
