I usually place a big order but I don't think my total shipping cost has ever been over $10. Maybe add a bunch of stuff to your cart and see if it changes.

If he's making anything on shipping it's most likely litteraly pennies. I calculated a 1/2 pound package shiping US mail Priority from Florida To California and it was $5.85 if he can put a 1/2 pound of fish food in a small flat rate (if it fits, it ships) bubble envelope it's $4.95

I ship stuff all day, we occasionaly get customers complaining about or shipping too. What they don't realize is we don't intentionaly set out to make anything on shipping, we charge as close as we can to actual shipping charges by having everything we sell weighed and entered into our data base. We round up to the nearest 1/100th of a pound (thats .15 of an ounce).

Ok, I'm talking packages here, not a 1st class letter but...What people don't realize is there is a base rate to shipping a package. If I ship you a single feather in a box it will cost $X, if I ship you 100 feathers in the same box it's not 100 x $X it's probably still $X

As does shipping supplies, it blows me away what we spend just on boxes. Not to mention tape, strapping tape, bubble wrap, yadda yadda yadda. Tyvek bubble envelopes cost us .85 each, we go through hundreds in a month.

That is one reason I've stayed shipping threw USPS for free boxes, I'm really thinking about hitting up furniture stores etc and trying to get used shipping supplies. I'm currently cutting my own foam from home depot it looks like crap and it's still $13 a sheet but cheaper than peanuts, etc.
