hey everyone just curious to know i have a bio-wheel and was wondering whether or not i need to keep changing the carbon or do i really even need a carbon filter in my filter?

1-Brochis Catfish
1-Khuli Loach
1-Mystery Snail
4-Blue/Black Striped Chiclids

10 Gallon Nano Reef

(nearly set up)

I use carbon ONLY to filter meds or other additives that treat the tank. If you use carbon to filter, you will need to change it regularly. Monthly, is a rule o fthumb as it becomes "contaminated" and ceases to filter out impurities. It can still function as a bio-bed but is not necessary if all is well in the tank.
