So Ive decided to go with a canister filter in my new (used) 30 gal....Just so im not wrong the dimensions are 36' L x 18' H x 12' W.....that is a 30 gal...right?....well anyways, I decided that the best route to go would be with a canister filter, ive yet to read a poor review on one....any suggestions on which brand/model to go with??
I've got the Rena Filstar XP1 on my 37 gal. and I'm very happy with it.It's completely quite and easy maintenance.I'll be getting the XP2 for my 50 gal.Others on here also talk highly of the Eheim filters.
both eheim and rena make great canister filters. I have a Marineland Magnum 350 on my 55G, it is awesome. I know Marineland makes a "c-series" cansiters which could suite your needs well.
As bones said, others will be along to chime in with their two cents.
I would just do alot of researching and comparing online and see what you like best!
I have Eheim and Rena canisters on my larger tanks. On tanks under 55g I would tend to go with something less, such as a sponge filter, depending upon fish/plants intended for the tank.
Filtration should always be geared to the requirements of the fish in the tank with respect to water movement which is the significant part of the filter's job. You haven't indicated what type of fish you intend in this 30g, plus no mention is made if plants are to be included. The answers to these two questions should determine the type of filter. I can explain further if you ask.
Byron.
