It's actually going to be a turtle tank, not sure if that matters.
I found it in my garage. I'm not sure what it is made out of. It has those little eye catching "gems" in it, probably plastic. When I poured boiling water of it some of the things on top sizzled and popped.
Does it have any sharp edges at all? I would maybe post in the turtle section on here and see if anybody there know if it would be okay. I am not sure how delicate turtles are. LOL
I'm thinking that the popping noises I heard was the glass cracking when I poured the boiling water over it. I already checked to ensure that the edges weren't sharp. I'm curious about the "gem" things on the top of it. I wonder if those would have any affect on my water or my turtles well being. I'm guessing that they're either just glass or plastic.
i would try to put vinegar on those little gem things inside the glass (hopefully you broke off some) just to see if it fizzes. Its probably coloured glass inside but its worth trying just incase.
I dont know, rock that fizzes when in contact with vinegar usually means bad stuff inside which will leech into the water eventually. 9 times out of 10 it will be toxic so its not worth the risk IMO
But then again i found some "zebra print" rocks on the side of the road one day so i pulled over and took a dozen or so, cleaned them up and stuck them in my tank ha ha
That was before i knew about the vinegar trick , i still havent tested them just incase they fizz LOL
hahaha, I'll check the fizz factor tomorrow. Hopefully I'm in the clear, however, the more I look at the rock...err..glass in question, the more unattractive it gets.
LOL me to either strawberry or orange those are my favorites. LOL
