Well, trees are often treated with pesticides. Roots will also take up all sorts of chemicals into the rest of the tree. I know in my area in the summer they spray for mosquitoes at night to prevent west nile. A big truck just drives along all the streets spraying...it's supposed to be from some plant extract, but still. Point is, there's lots of stuff in there that you may not know about. Just be careful!

I live in a very rural area, so I think it will be okay. But I'll keep that in mind if I ever get wood from other areas.
