Smile Can I have a betta in my tank?

I am thinking of upgrading my 20 gallon tank to a 55 gallon tank and was wondering if i could put a betta in a 55 gallon tank along with guppies, platies, ottos, bloodfin tetras, neon tetras, mollies, pristella tetras and other small fish? So let me state the question simply: Can I have a betta with the fish listed in a 55 gallon tank?
Thank You to anyone who answers

Noooot a good idea imo. Bettas are loners by nature, some are good natured but they will be stressed by the proximity of so many fishes around. Plus guppies are often mistaken by bettas as competitors because of their long fins, AND tetras are notorious fin nippers.

You may want to rething you stock listing.....there is nothing wrong with it.....but guppies, mollies and platies are all live bearers...which means you will have tons of fry in the tank in no time. If you are prepared for that, more power to you, but if you're not make sure you buy single sex at your LFS. Most stores already have them seperated.

ok im not going to get a betta, I dont want to take any chances and my LFS takes in fish fry, so if i start to get too many ill just donate them to the store.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE ADVICE!!!

I've tried this before, and you would basically be giving your betta a very nice buffet...from my experience at least.

I have a post somewhere on here basically about this same thing! I have a 20g with at the time like 3 head and tail light's and 3 glow light's and I put the Betta in there, BAD CALL!!!! He went in looking GREAT and came out looking like edward siccor hands got ahold of his fins! Never saw fish around him but when I got close and checked his fins I immediately ran for his old talk to put him in! So IMO don't do it!
