It was a nice match! But I've had to isolate the betta for some fin rot and I noticed that the cories are less shy when the betta's out, so I decided to give him his own tank and find a calmer tankmate for them. The betta wasn't agressive toward them, but he was a show-off and he loved to try and meddle with them at meal-times, and they didn't seem to like it. It was like the betta was too social for them lol. Plus, they've started laying eggs after he was gone! If it's not a sign... I guess a calmer betta would have been perfect but mine was just too curious and frisky.

Those should be just fine together*. The betta is mainly a mid to upper level swimmer and the corys will spend 99% of their time on the bottom. The corys are not visually similar to an anabantid and have no long flowing fins to entice the betta. Corys have no tendency to nip fins that I'm aware of, if anything they're joyfully oblivious of the other fish in the tank.

*Baring the betta having a bad attitude. Some tolerate no other fish in their tank period.
