Bubbly Heater

When I was restarting my tank, I had to buy a new water heater as my other one wasnt working anymore. I bought the Marineland Stealth heater. It seems like when I put it into the tank a bunch of air bubbles formed on the surface of it... I took it out, wiped it down, and when submerged a few minutes later all the bubbles were back! Anyone know if this is normal or why its doing so?
I dont recall my last heater being like this, but it was clear, not black and maybe I just never noticed

I'm not exactly certain but im pretty sure you're gonna be fine. Bubbles form on things that are new to the tank. I think it might have something to do with it not having any coat of slime on it. The bubbles will go away. This is what i've noticed with anytime i put something new in the tank or set up a new tank. Hopefully someone else knows exactly what causes this but i wouldn't worry.

mine did the same thing. you will be fine just set your heater under water for about 10 mins then plug it in. the bubbles are from trapped heat coming from the heater. (thats my guess anyways)

ditto, now an issue....same thing if you buy a brand new aquarium and fill it with water, you'll have little bubbles all over the glass
