Brown film everywhere

Exclamation Brown film everywhere

I have a 2 month old 20 gallon aquarium with 1 Betta and 1 snail. I have a film on the glass, substrate, and plastic plants. It started out almost orange then turned brown....HELP!

1. what is it?
2. How do I get rid of it?
3. How do I keep it from coming back?

Can you take a pic of it??

Have you tried to wipe it off the surface?? Does it come off easily? Or do you have to scrub it off?

it wipes off the glass easily, it looks black on the pad I use. I don't have picture capability. The betta and snail are doing just fine.

OK am betting and this just a guess here that is diatoms (brown algae). This can be common in new setups. 2 months old is still fairly new. It should go away on its own but in the mean time I would wipe it off the glass and the decor the best you can. Would also do a gravel vacuum and see it comes of the substrate. I would do this for a week or so and see if it stops coming back. If it doesn't then we can talk about other ways to get it to go away.
