Bogwood

Does anyone know how long you are supposed to soak bogwood? I bought some when I first bought a fish tank but after ages of soaking, it was still high in ammonia, so we had to scrap it. It looks really nice though in tanks I've seen so I'd like to get some again but I don't want to harm my fish. Can it be bought already treated?[/code]

I have soaked my pieces for about a fortnight, more in one case, and I boil them once before I begin soaking. Thy still leach some tannins but generally not too bad if it's been soaked. Remember to change the water daily as well.

Bogwood shouldn't have aonia on it! What test kit were you using? that seems odd to me.

A good scrub and a sak should be all it needs.

What kind of wood did you get? Do you have pictures? Like Falina, I also have my doubts on your claims regarding the wood having ammonia. It could be various factors aside from picking the wrong wood which eventually rot in the tank.

I'm ready for the pressure.
The drama and the pleasure!
If there is one thing I want to see here, it's HUMOR.
I believe I can fly!
I believe I can touch the sky!
I think about it every night and day!
I stand in awe of my body.
