Blinking Brochis

OK, I didn't think fish had eyelids and, while I expect that is generally correct, that doesn't mean that they don't blink. I thought I saw them do something that looked like blinking but I could never see them do it while so still.

Here is a row of Brochis waiting for bedtime (1/2 after normal lights out), watch for 1 and 3 to do their blinking.

Total years fish keeping experience: 7 months, can't start counting in years for a while yet.

Yes, cories and brochis will "blink". Thanks for sharing the video.

As jeaninel said, all the coryadidae will do this. It is not blinking, since you are right, fish do not have eyelids [with a couple exceptions, which I think I mention in my article on light]. They achieve the "effect" by being able to rotate the eyes. To us is looks like a blink.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If youíre going to take it under your wing then youíre responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
