Best way to clean tank

Hey everyone, I want to see what everyone uses to clean the inside of their tank. Please rate the following on a scale of 1-10, which you like best.

1. Hand-held sponge
2. Hand-held sponge with a handle
3. Sponge on a stick
4. Magnet cleaner

Look forward to reading everyone's opinion!

I vote magnet cleaner, all the way! I don't know why, but i HATE putting my hands in the tank water. On the occasions where i do have to put my hands into the tannk, i end up running to the bathroom after with my arms outstretched and wash them all the way up to my shoulder... Don't ask why... I think maybe i just have weird hangups about germs (fish pee) sometimes, i guess.

I use a combination. Magnet cleaner first, then sponge on a stick, then hand held sponge to get hardest spots.

hmm well i've used all of them i think over time.
i'm lucky i don't mind putting my hand/arm in the water.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

I've used all those but nothing beats a hand held sponge for getting out tough spots and into those hard to reach corners.

150 Gallon - Mostly American Cichlids
135 Gallon - Angelfish Community
75 Gallon - Odd couple (Polleni/Angelfish)
55 Gallon - African tank
20 Gallon Long - QT
10 Gallon - Empty

I laughed out loud for that. I am so much like you in that area it isn't even funny. I just feel sort of bacteria covered once my hand is in the tank. I scrub my arm with anti bacterial soap each time. lol

You girls are so funny! You are worried about taking germs away from the tank and I'm worried about introducing them into the tank! I wash my hands and arms with the hottest water I can stand prior to putting them into my tanks. I think my fish would fare well worse with my germs, than vice-versa.

I agree with Jeaninel, nothing like a hand held to really get the tank clean. I use the Magnet cleaner on a daily basis do make the once a week "get in and get out" a little easier.

If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything...

I much prefer the hand held sponge, and I've tried all the methods as well

LOL! Surely you guys don't wade into lakes and streams or swim in the ocean with all that fish urine!

In good fun,
