Bad fish purchase experience

A couple of months ago i had a healthy community aquarium taking shape, then i made the worst possible choice! I decided to purchase some fish from an online supplier "aquaticstoyourdoor".

Previous experience ordering live stock online went great as thats how i got my cherry shrimp and they all arrived in perfect health and are flourashing to this day.

I ordered 10 Neon Tetras and 6 Rummynose Tetras just to build up the shoals....HUGE MISTAKE!

Firstly reading the delivery note there was 2 Rummys short as "not enough in stock" so ok there was 4.....looked at the bag with them in there was 3! So i typed out a nice email to send them saying how i didnt appriciate being short changed but didnt send it at that moment

Had the 2 bags in the top of my aquarium to start the aclimatising off, the next stage was opening the bags and adding some of my water. Upon opening the bags a not only dead but dismembered Rummy fell into the water... it had been crushed when tying the bags...disgusting!

So fish were added and a very strongly worded email sent to the suppliers..... response came back " we are very sorry the fish must have JUMPED when the bag was being tied" total BS if you ask me.

The worst part tho happened 10 days later when several fish started to develope white spot and alot of the newly purchased fish started dying. I lost nearly all of my fish except for 2 rummynose i had origionally had, my Betta Misery and the shrimp.

Another strongly worded email went out to which i have never had a response

So my advice to anyone is to find a localised specialist and not to try and order online where they dont really care what happens to the fish! Lesson learned and i use a fantastic little supplier not all that local but everything i have purchased there is living flourashing!

So thankyou Kidsgrove Tropicals and a big BOOOO to aquaticstoyourdoor.co.uk

Setting up a quarantine tank is always a good idea but it is especially important when purchasing fish online. Even fish from the most reputable stores get ich and parasites

Yeah, that's why a quarantine tank is so important especially when you buy online. I've spent years getting my community tank where I want it to be and would be heartbroken if some new fish caused illness in that tank.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience :( Sadly, this is how we learn. You posting your experience here will help others so thank you for that.

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.
