Aqua Lifter Question!?

Ok so I bought this aqua lifter from work and then ordered a suction filter for it because the directions said that if I didnt have it the water would most likely clog the pump and ruin it. soooo theres obviously a water in and a water out hose. where do the hoses go? its for my overflow so if the siphon ever breaks the air lifter is there for backup. hopefully someone is knowledgeable about this area?

Ok so heres a picture of the aqua lifter and the suction filter that goes to it. the water intake has to be filtered through the suction filter or else it will clog the aqua lifter as the directions say. but i dont know how to set it up with my eshops overflow, to keep the siphon going if it ever were to fail. someone knowledgeable in this department?[/url]
