API Master Test Kit

I have this kit and I am doing ok with reading all of the tests except the pH. How do you read the pH? All of the colors are so close together that I am not sure what my pH is. I have tried to read it inside, outside, on a white background and I have given it to my daughter to get her opinion. Does anyone have any tips on getting an accurate pH reading?

You hold the tube on the white part of the card next to the color chart and under good light, match it against the color as close as possible. For regular pH, yellow to shades of green to blue. My pH is always in the low range so I only did the high range test once.

I am finding the new API pH test kit difficult to discern colours too. They are so very close in shade. My former kit was not like this.

Always test when you can use daylight, but not direct sun, if that is at all possible. Artificial light can distort colours.

I have been taking the test outside on the porch out of the direct sunlight but the light blues are so hard for me. I wish the pH test could be more like the others where there is a discernible difference between the colors.
