Anyone have a solid black background?

I just swapped my solid blue background to solid black. It's cool, but the lights seem off now - they seem too bright, like if you have the brightness turned up way too high on your TV - it takes the deep black out of it, you know?

Anyone know of any good lights that work with black backgrounds? I have a %%G fresh with double hood (2 bulbs). Thanks.

I have black backgrounds on all my tanks, love them. I have double hooded lights on my display tank and when I very first set it up it did seem a little too bright. I had swapped out actinic bulbs for CF so it went from looking nice and soft to bright, bright, bright. I'm so used to it now that it doesn't bother me at all and I think it looks great. Maybe give yourself a few more days to adjust??

I have black background in all my tanks. I have low light. My 55 gal, tank only has 2 lights that are 15 watts. I have a planted tank and the black ground makes the plants and fish the focal point in the tank. I have pool filter sand on the bottom of my 55 gal. tank . With a black backgound the fishes that are neon and have nice colors show up really nice. Also if you switch to blk. said some fish show up nicer then the white sand. All my other tanks have black sand. The albino bushy nosed pleco shows up really nice on the bottom. Neon tetras, glow-light tetras, harleqen rasboras, rainbow fish, boesmani rainbows, lighter colored angelfish , ghost fish, silver dollars and nicely colored liverbearer fish show up better against a black background and black sand. If you have colored dwarf shrimps the nicely colored red cherry shrimp, yellow, will become darker against the blk. background and black sand.
