Anyone have one of these "Water Colors" Aquarium Backgrounds?

I have an existing tank and ordered some fresh backgrounds online. They showed up and they want you to make a soap/water mixture and apray it on, etc. But there is already a bunch of Vaseline all over the back of my tank from my last regular plastic background. (I usually just peel one off and then add some more Vaseline and plop it right on the back and use the leftover Vaseline from the old one. You with me?

So for these fancy ones, will they work with Vaseline or do i have to scrub all of it off if I want to use this new style??

Thanks.

I've never heard of either and would think twice about smearing petroleum jelly on the back of a tank.
I just use a bit of scotch tape for paper backgrounds.

You should try it - works beautifully. You will be amazed how different a background looks when you use Vaseline vs. tape.

I've used the seaview stuff before (probably a real expensive way to the same result as vaseline) and yes it does make the background's stand out a lot more and emphasizes color. Now I use some window decal vinyl and adhere it to the back of the tank. Gives the same "applied" look as paint but with the flexibility to change it (albeit not that easy to come off though lol) I would assume the old vaseline with a dab of new stuff to "refresh" it would work just fine.
