I have 3 pythons..one new that I just won in a contest (FAMA) and one that I use to drain my tank via gravity(50ft) in the garden and one I hook up to my sink to fill my tank(25ft)...the last two are about 5-8 years old maybe......and they both have the dark brown to black looking stuff in them...algae/fungus....not sure and to be honest.... I really never worried about it and I have never had any issues with it either... other than it looks kinda ugly, my 50ft stays outside and stays black looking all the time, the 25ft has the black stuff and I always flush before I use it to fill the tank, other than the looks I have had no problems....you can e-mail the company and ask them but I think maybe flushing it with a diluted bleach would help if the look is bothering you....IMO...I don't think it will cause any problems just flush it first if you only use it to fill.... but if you sue it to clean too...you just flushed it.....
I have had the black stuff break lose and go in the tank and I used a net and fished it out...still no problems......

You know thos baby bottle brushes.
Cut one apart tie a string/yarn to it,
Feed the string/yarn through the tube and pull the brush through.
Should clean it. Might have to do 2 or 3 times.

I bought a rounded brush with metal "arm" that's like 3-4ft long several yrs ago at the petsote. Works great for cleaning Phyton's or the hoses of your canister :) Run it through from each side let water run with it and especially your canister's hoses will look like brand new after that :)
