Is it looking like fine Hair?
Is it a brown "fur"?
Is it green slime looking like?
Look through the pictures here and see what looks like yours and post the name for us Freshwater Algae Types: An Illustrated Guide - Article at The Age of Aquariums - Tropical Fish

First, find out what algae you have. Most of the so-called "algae eating" fish don't eat anything but the common green algae. And "green algae" can be brush algae, hair algae or cyanobacteria (not a true algae but it acts like algae), and plecos will not eat any of this. And, plecos get large, the common pleco to 12+ iches which is too big for a 15g tank.

You need to identify the algae and then fix the reason it is there. Did you check the photos in the link Angel gave you? Here's another good source for identifying algae: PG: Algae - An Overview - PlantGeek.net

In the long run for a tank, its always easier to ID what algae you're dealing with (see my link above) eliminate the problem in your tank that's causing the growth. Anything else may that be a supposed algae eating fish or chemicals is only going to mask the problem but the problem will remain until such day you eliminated its cause.
