Talking after some suggestions on what other fish i can put in my 240litre/63 gallon tank?

hi everyone, ive got a 240 litre/63gallon tank setup with 5 silver dollars, 2 angel fish, 3 small loaches..i think maybe they are pakistan loaches or something along those lines and 1 red tail black shark who is also quite small. was just wondering how much more fish would go good in this tank if any and what suggestions any of you may have?

I'd say that tank is already pretty full... depending on what type of silver dollars you have, it may eventually be over stocked as the fish grow. Silver dollars get quite large, as do angelfish and red tail sharks. If you keep adding to the current population in that size of a tank then the fish have no room for growth to adult size, they end up crowded and aggressive (angels and shark) and water quality eventually becomes impossible to maintain.

thanks for the reply. im not sure what type of silver dollars i have but ive had them for about 2 years so im sure they have stopped growing..they are about the size of my palm. the angels are new additions ive only had them for a week as well as the red tail shark. im not going to put any more fish in the tank as i think the angel fish are having a hard time getting food because the silver dollars go so crazy at feeding time just bombarding the angels out the way. poor lil things!!

I am not one who recommends angels with silver dollars, partly for exactly the reason you give, feeding. Also, angels need camoflage, their vertical strips tell us they live among fallen branches and will feel more secure if they have something similar, like branches, tall growing plants (Vallisneria, Sagittaria are ideal, plus larger swords); though plants may be impossible, the common SD's are notorious plant eaters. And angels are sedate fish that do not appreciate the boistrousness of SD's. As you have the SD's settled, I would suggest returning the angels. There is also the very real issue of size and water quality that Dawn mentioned.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
