Welcome to the forum!
I'm new at the planted tank thing myself but what I have learned from the folks here who know their stuff:
-You don't have to supplement with CO2, the plants will grow, just at a slower rate.
-You DO need to balance nutrients, lighting, and CO2 if you want max growth rates in your plants, but it's not required for success.
-If you have a system with too much light and/or other factors out of balance, you'll get algae !!!!
Absolute best advice - look under the "aquarium plants" section of this forum, there are some great "Stickies" posted by folks who know much more about this topic than I do. Do your reading, relax and enjoy your tank. Remember that whatever makes you happy, keeps your fish healthy, and your plants alive is as fancy as you have to get. Sure you can get pressurized CO2, fertilize, add Flourish Excel, etc. It just depends on how much work you want to make your tank.
